Submission Guidelines

This is a directory of quality UK sites. Following these guidelines will increase the chances that a domain will be listed.

General Guidelines

We are looking for the most relevant, informative and unique websites from the UK. They must be written in English.
  • For standard submissions, only one listing per domain is allowed.
  • Websites must be based in the UK. Domains with a .uk suffix, such as .org.uk or .co.uk, are preferred.

Excluded sites

The following categories of site will not be accepted into the directory:
  • Illegal content or content that encourages visitors to break UK law. This includes racist, sexist, discriminatory, obscene, and libellous content.
  • Adult
  • Sites promoting gambling
  • Sites promoting tobacco use
  • Sites promoting alcohol or drug use
  • Duplicate or mirror sites
  • Sites consisting largely of advertisements for other sites
  • Sites which fail to comply with accessibility legislation
  • Sites under construction
  • Sites that require registration to access their main content and functionality

Generally discouraged

The following points will reduce the chances of a site getting listed:
  • Poor spelling and grammar
  • Very little content
  • Markup that is not cross-browser compatible
  • Excessive use of popups
  • Pages that have not been updated for some time
  • Broken links
  • Sites that require registration to access a lot of their content and functionality

Category-specific rules

  • Sites listed in Business must display clear contact details such as a telephone number and address. Do not mention prices or special offers in the description.

Other

  • Only one website for the same business, or one website located at the same trading address, can be included in each category. Multiple website submissions by the same group or individual webmaster on the same or very similar topics will not be accepted.
